Veneers in Council Bluffs, IA

Veneers can conceal a variety of dental imperfections, including chips, cracks, stains, and gaps between teeth. They’re an extremely versatile cosmetic dental solution. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials that fit over the front surfaces of teeth. They can be used to correct the appearance of teeth that are misshapen, crooked, discolored, chipped, or worn down.

What Are Veneers?

A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect a portion of a tooth from damage. They can be placed to remedy a single tooth that is stained or malformed or multiple teeth that are misaligned or uneven in appearance.

Veneers can address several dental issues including the following:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Teeth that are chipped or broken
  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Gapped teeth

Benefits of Veneers

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of teeth to cover cosmetic imperfections such as chips, cracks, or stains.

Veneers are a great treatment option because only a small amount of tooth enamel needs to be removed in order to make room for them. Because so little enamel is removed, this procedure is sometimes reversible. This means that if you get your veneers and decide you don’t like the way they look, our dentist can take them out and replace them with a different procedure.

Another benefit of veneers is that they are stain resistant. Porcelain is a durable substance that resists chipping and staining. Additionally, if properly taken care of, veneers can last upwards of ten years or more.

Procedure for Veneers

Dental veneers are durable, thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain or composite resin material designed to cover the front surface of the teeth to improve their appearance by masking stains and correcting other aesthetic flaws. To place a veneer, our dentist will need to remove a small amount of enamel from the front surface of your tooth to accommodate the shell.

The veneer is created from an impression of your tooth that is sent to a laboratory where the ceramic material is molded into the desired shape. We will place a temporary veneer on your tooth while your permanent veneer is being made at the lab. When you return to our office,  we will bond the permanent veneer to your tooth with resin cement.

Once the procedure is over, you’ll be left with a beautiful new smile!
